Visitors and Tourist Guide for the Highland Lakes
of Central Texas with maps and hundreds of pictures of the Highland Lakes.
The Highland Lakes are located in the Hill Country of
central Texas in Llano and Burnet Counties just 50 to 60 minutes Northwest of Austin and
85 minutes north of San Antonio.
This web page covers four of the Highland
Lakes: Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake, Lake LBJ and Lake Marble Falls and all of the towns around
the Highland Lakes. Three of the four Highland Lakes are normally constant level lakes for ideal boating and
other water activities. If you are looking for information on Lake
Travis, Town Lake and Lake Austin, go to our "Highland Lakes Tourist Guides" web
site at highlandlakes.net.
Since August of 1996 the "Highland
Lakes Web Page" has been the largest, most comprehensive web site covering the
Highland Lakes area with over 50 separate categories and over 400 photos of the area.
As well as having information on the lakes we also have information on the 6 towns
in the area and information on special upcoming events.
If you are thinking of coming here
on a vacation, you will find information on the lakes, RV Parks, cabins for rent,
condos and vacation homes for rent, motels, bed & breakfast inns, and much more.
If you are looking for a place to retire, you will
love the Highland Lakes! Contact one of the realtors on our web site for brochures and
retirement information.
If you are a snowbird or Winter
Texan and are looking for a warmer place to spend the winter, you will find all the
information you need in our web site.
Take your time going through our web site. Enjoy
the photos of the wildlife and the lakes. And come back often. We add more information and
photos to the page several times a week.
Thank you for visiting the Highland Lakes Web Page.
"The Deer Capital of
Texas" is what Llano County is aptly called. You will find some of the friendliest
deer you have ever seen in Horseshoe Bay on Lake LBJ. Deer are also plentiful around
Inks Lake at the golf course and at the State Park.
You will find great fishing in all
four of the Highland Lakes. The photo above is a Striper caught in Lake Buchanan by a
local resident.
Visitors from Switzerland, Fredi, Rosmarie and Elsa Kambli,
tasting wine at a local winery. For more about their visit to the Texas Highland
Lakes click here.
In the spring from the middle of
March through most of June the Highland Lakes area turns into a virtual paradise with the
fields of wildflowers. First, the Bluebonnets bloom, and they are quickly joined by the
red Indian Paintbrush flowers for beautiful fields of red and blue. As these flowers start
to fade the fields are taken over by other red, yellow and white flowers. You have to see
them to really appreciate how beautiful these fields of flowers are.
Use all your Highland Lakes snapshots to make wonderful custom Christmas
cards.
