Swimming Creek & Nature Trail - two minute walk from Cabin Guests will enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings. Southwind Log Cabin offers both a quiet retreat as well as convenient access to many other possibilities. Short walk to Horseshoe Bay's private campground and park where guests can hike the nature trail, swim the creek, enjoy fishing with the kids and have a campfire. Bring your bicycles for an invigorating ride in Horseshoe Bay's hills. Plenty of fun for Fido as well. Head back to the cabin where you can relax on your upstairs sun and moon deck with large hot tub, have a BBQ, enjoy stargazing with our "Find the Constellations" guide, schedule an appointment for an incredibly relaxing massage or facial, enjoy an evening by the fireplace with family and friends. There's plenty to do for couples seeking a romantic getaway, families and friends seeking fun, or perhaps a much needed solitary retreat for the solo traveler. The short drive to Lake LBJ Marina offers jet ski & boat rentals, a small water park for the kids, convenient boat access. The town of Marble Falls is just a 15-minute drive away for a variety of eateries, lakefront dining, antiques, art and shopping on historic main street, live music venues, live theater, movie cinema, miniature golf. Visit the local events calendar at Marble Falls Chamber of Commerce. For animal lovers - a real treat is to visit the Exotic Zoo on hwy 281, about a 20- min. drive from the cabin. Visitors can take the guided open-air jeep tour of the entire zoo and see stunning views of exotic wildlife amidst the background of the beautiful hill country. Outdoor & Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the short-distance drive to Texas wineries, Enchanted Rock, Longhorn Caverns, Krause Springs, several public golf courses and highly recommended, Cypress Valley Canopy Tours; an exciting zip-line guided tour where the entire family can soar through the tree tops of the hill country along a cypress-lined creek; reservations only. Day trips: 1-hr drive to Fredericksburg, Austin; 1.5 hr drive to San Antonio's famous River Walk. Nearest Airport: Austin-Bergstrom Int'l Airport: about 1 hr driving time. Spring time in the Texas hill country is bursting with an array of wildflowers including the ever popular Bluebonnets, attracting tourists (and butterflies) from all over the world. March-April is the best time of year for Bluebonnet viewing. Spring also offers a wonderful opportunity to visit the Sweet Berry Farm, about a 15 min. drive from here - just a few miles outside the town of Marble Falls. March-July they have a field of delicious sun-ripened strawberries and other berries you can pick yourself! The warmer weather invites many other wildflowers & sage in bloom, and of course many opportunities for water sports. Fall adds refreshingly cooler nights and splashes of red and gold to our hills while winter offers a milder climate for those wishing to escape the freezing snow.
